Urban Planning
Bus Rapid Transit is the future of public transportation in Chicago. If you're still unclear on the concept of BRT, an event tonight at the Chicago Cultural Center is for you. RedEye CTA reporter Tracy Swartz will lead a panel discussion starting at 6 p.m. that will look at the advantages and disadvantages of BRT, the key elements of Chicago's BRT plan and the effects the plan will have on residents. That will be followed by a workshop conducted by George and Sara Aye of Greater Good Studio on designing a bus stop tailor made for bus rapid transit. Register for the seminar here; the cutoff is at 4:30 p.m. (78 W. Washington Street)
Vivian Maier
Author Rich Cahan and master printer Ron Gordon will discuss the life of street photographer Vivian Maier and the posthumous discovery of her work, which she never shared during her life, 7 p.m. May 30 at the Bridgeport Art Center. (1200 W. 35th Street)
