Last Minute Plans: ManBQue Wing Warfare

Typically, a male-only club might reek of abject sexism ala Al Bundy’s NO M’AAM (National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood/Numb Old Men Anxiously Awaiting Morticians). But the guys at ManBQue appear to be doing the whole brotherhood thing just right, by stoking the primal flames of a BBQ grill, drinking beer, and handing out sophomoric (in a good way!) nicknames, without the presence of their ladies. Sound fun? You can experience the glory that is a ManBQue MEATing tonight if you choose to participate in tonight’s Wing Warfare.

Tonight’s ManBQue MEATing: Wing Warfare is a celebration of sorts, and a call to action. ManBQue founder Jesse Valenciana has been offered a grilling cookbook deal with Running Press. What’s more, he wants to give the ManBQue members a fair shot at having their recipe published. So, tonight’s event will center on chicken wings. Not fried nor baked, but grilled chicken wings.

Want a shot at published glory? Here are the details. Arrive at The Convent, 1714 S. Racine, at 7:30 p.m. with one dozen chicken wings, a six pack of good beer, and a comprehensive recipe with your contact information on it. You will not have access to a prep kitchen, so get the wings as ready as possible to hit the grill, be sauced, and get judged. Above all else, no boneless wings, no vegetarian dishes, and leave the ladies at home.

If you don’t have a great wing recipe, spectators are welcome, but entry will only be granted with a six-pack of good beer.

The Convent is located at 1714 S. Racine.
