Weekend Blotter: One Killed, 12 Wounded In Weekend Violence

- One person was killed and 12 people were wounded in weekend violence citywide.
- Dionte Maxwell, 18, was shot and killed after he asked party crashers to leave a family gathering at his uncle's house shortly before 11 p.m. on Friday in the Stony Island Park neighborhood. Police say things became physical when Maxwell and his uncle asked the group to leave the party, and someone pulled a gun and shot Maxwell twice in the chest. Maxwell had just finished his first year as a student at Rockford College. A 19-year-old man and two 16-year-old boys have been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
- Nine other people were wounded in gun violence between Friday and Saturday morning.
- A 16-year-old boy was shot and wounded around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the West Lawn neighborhood.
- A 19-year-old man was shot and wounded around 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Gresham neighborhood.
- A 17-year-old boy and a 25-year-old man were shot and wounded around 3 a.m. Saturday as they left a party in the Lawndale neighborhood.
- A 20-year-old man was shot and wounded in the arm on Friday in what police say was a gang-related shooting on the West Side. The victim attempted to flee the scene, and police say he was uncooperative and combative.
- Two men were shot and wounded in separate incidents in the Englewood and West Lawn neighborhoods early Sunday morning.
- A 24-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot in the head in the Austin neighborhood around 10 a.m. Sunday.
- Two men were stabbed and wounded in the Lincoln Park neighborhood when they approached a man's house to collect a debt around 11:55 p.m. Friday.
- Four people were killed and 11 were wounded overnight Wednesday.
