A Chicago man was arrested after authorities saw him taking part in a drug deal while his 5-year-old daughter was in the backseat. Cook County sheriff's deputies say they witnessed Armond Nelson, 32, make a drug transaction from his car with someone in another vehicle in south suburban Dolton.

Authorities say they pulled over Nelson's vehicle, and they found drugs, money, a 9mm handgun and a 5-year-old girl.

The Sheriff's Department wrote in a release:

Nelson was asked to step out of the vehicle, at which point an investigator observed a clear plastic bag in the drivers side door compartment containing suspected crack cocaine and heroin. Recovered from Nelson's front right pocket was a plastic bag containing heroin and $510.

A search of the vehicle revealed $2000 in the center console. Also located in the vehicle under the drivers seat was a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun loaded with 16 rounds. Nelson told investigators he purchased the gun from someone on the streets in Indiana. Later, investigators learned that the gun was stolen in 2010 out of Gary, Indiana.

Nelson faces charges of armed violence, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, narcotics possession and child endangerment.
