Last Minute Plans: Feel The Peace At Schubas Tonight

By Tankboy in Arts & Entertainment on Jun 6, 2013 5:50PM

Peace's attempts to revive mid-90s baggy Britpop are almost at cartoonish levels. But we're such a sucker for the sound, we don't really care. Seriously, just take a look at this video.

See what we mean? It's like what would happen if The Farm merged with Leisure-period Blur and tried to cover Pablo Honey-era Radiohead. But who cares? So much of Brit indie music is so naval gazing these days it's refreshing to hear a band proudly wear influences from a time when guitars knew how to throw dance parties.

Here's what they sound like when they submerge themselves in their Happy Mondays 12" vinyl remix collection.

We're not trying to be cheeky here, we actually really enjoy these guys and think you probably will too. Their debut In Love is filled with tunes like the above and while it feels a little overly long when they indulge their inner jammy, overall it's a really fun listen. They're playing Schuba's tonight, and we'd love to see just how they're going to rip that small room apart.

Peace plays tonight, June 6, at Schubas, 3159 N Southport, 9 p.m., $12, 18+
