Love conquers all this week on the Chicago stage with three plays dedicated to exploring its various forms and emotions.

The Three Musketeers

We’re intrigued by the idea of fitting Alexandre Dumas’ classic novel onto the stage. Brimming with 17th century heroes, marauders and romance, we’re betting it will make for an adventurous night of theater.

The show runs through Sunday, July 21. Lifeline Theatre, 6912 N. Glenwood Ave., 773-761-4477 or online.

The Pride
About Face Theatre is producing the award-winning play chronicling the history of the gay rights movement to kick off LGBTQ Pride Month. Playwright Alexi Kaye Campbell frames the issue through two complex love triangles and witty dialogue.

The show runs through Saturday, July 13. About Face Theatre at the Victory Gardens Richard Christiansen Theater, 2433 N. Lincoln Ave., 773-871-3000 or online.

The Drunken City

The Steppenwolf takes a hard look at modern love (a.k.a. bar crawls and bachelorette parties). The show is part of the theater’s Next Up program, which showcases the works of Chicago’s next generation of theater pros.

The show runs through Saturday, June 15. Steppenwolf Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted, 312-335-1650 or online.
