Bands will use any occasion to mount tours celebrating seminal releases, won't they? In the case of The Dandy Warhols they're using the 13th anniversary of Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia's to re-release an expanded edition of the album and tour with a setlist mirroring its track listing.

Thirteen years doesn't seem like a long time, especially for a band that's been active for over 20 years, releasing what could be argued were even stronger albums in that time. But Thirteen Tales From Urban Bohemia was their break-out album, the one that put "Bohemian Like You" in countless soundtracks and endless party mixes. It also saw the band returning to more straightforward pop after two more experimental albums. And as a whole, it stands up as a solid piece of work that still sounds fresh when we spin it today as it did the day we got it, 13 years ago.

The expanded edition is remastered and includes a second disc of demos and other unreleased tracks from the time period. These range from produced final songs to rough sketches thrown on a 4-track recorded, and all of it is interesting to hardcore fans who want a window into the band's writing process. Regular fans might be more interested in the remastered vinyl version coming out if they just want something smart sounding to play on their home stereo.

The Dandy Warhols are playing the whole album on their current tour and they stop in Chicago to play The Vic tonight. If you're feeling a little bohemian like us, we'll see you there.

The Dandy Warhols play tonight, June 8, at The Vic, 3145 N Sheffield, 8 p.m., $24, 18+
