Music Video Of The Day: Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit 'Alabama Pines'
By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Jun 14, 2013 10:35PM
Former Drive-By Truckers singer-guitarist Jason Isbell has a fine new album out, Southeastern, that further distances him from the other Ernest T. Songwriters huddled under the Americana umbrella. Isbell's always had a way to turn a lyric but a recent stint in rehab helped make Southeastern his strongest solo outing yet. (Friend of Chicagoist Robert Loerzel has a wonderful set of photos from Isbell's show at Northcenter Rib Fest last week worth wasting some bandwidth.)
I'll have a full review of Southeastern next week. Until then, enjoy this song from his 2011 album Here We Rest. The weather and the song complement the wanderlust tugging at us right now.
Since you apparently can't watch music videos on television anymore, we'll showcase one here daily. There's no rhyme or reason, time or season, to which video we'll choose. Have a suggestion? Contact Samantha Abernethy at samantha@chicagoist.com
