Do This: 'Hot Stove Cool Music' Fundraiser At Metro

By Chuck Sudo in Arts & Entertainment on Jun 20, 2013 10:00PM

2011_10_theo_epstein.jpg Cubs President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein and his twin brother Paul formed the charity called A Foundation to be Named Later in 2005 that raises money and awareness for youth-focused charities in Boston and now Chicago. (We also like the name of the charity as it reminds us of the Bluth Family Foundation's annual fundraisers for TBA.)

Digressing, Epstein hosts annual "Hot Stove Cool Music" fundraisers featuring local acts and baseball notables and, as of post time, there are still tickets available for the 8 p.m. June 21 fundraiser at Metro. The proceeds benefit A Foundation to be Named Later and Chicago Cubs Charities. Epstein will host along with Cubs TV play-by-play man Len Kasper and Baseball Hall of Fame writer Peter Gammons. Kasper often works music references into Cubs broadcasts, while Gammons is a capable bluesman.

That covers the hot stove aspect of the event. Now here's the cool music. Poi Dog Pondering headlines with the Hot Stove All Stars comprising of Gammons and Kasper, former Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlain, Local H's Scott Lucas, Jesse Dee, Chris Cote and Will Dailey. Other acts scheduled to perform include Kay Hanley, Parkington Sisters, Brede Baldwin and Chicago Children's Choir Alumni.
