2013_6_27_hops.jpg What the South side lacks in quantity of beer events it makes up for in quality, which is why we want to put a July 13 event from Homebrewers Pride of the South Side on the radar for beer geeks everywhere.

The second annual Bubbly Creek Beer Brawl is a one of a kind event—judged both by the public and accredited beer judges. This year's Barrel Brawl boasts 20 beers in a wide variety of styles from the familiar IPA and Porter to the lesser-known Vienna Lager and Scotch Ale. All attendees will receive a souvenir tasting glass, judging materials, instructions on judging from Beer Judging Certification Program judges, and membership in Hops' Barrel Brawl Society. The winning homebrewer will earn a chance to brew with the folks at Horse Thief Hollow in Beverly.

The Brawl runs from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the Co-Prosperity Sphere (3219 S. Morgan St.) and tickets are limited. Purchase yours here.
