Chicagoist's Beer of the Week: Solemn Oath's Mr. Inappropriate

With all of the chaotic celebrations going on in the city this week, and with Corey Crawford dropping two f-bombs on live television earlier today, we figured this would be a great opportunity to review another beer from Solemn Oath Brewery called Mr. Inappropriate.
Mr. Inappropriate is a hopped-up Belgian-Style blonde ale brewed with white and red wheat. It pours a hazy, golden hue into the glass, and we picked up some very aromatic hops on the nose right away. Big notes of herbs, lemongrass, and citrus play together very nicely on the nose, and each of them pop on the palate without overpowering one another. If anything, the citrus tone may linger a little longer than the others, but we have no problem with that. The wheat in the grain bill adds a certain aspect of creaminess to the mouthfeel, but keeps things relatively light and fluffy while the Belgian yeast strain adds some very pleasant hints of melon and tropical fruits. Don't let all of those fruity undertones scare you though, because at 5.2 percent alcohol content, 'Mr. Inappropriate' is quite dry, and incredibly quaffable.
If you have a chance to enjoy a pint of Mr. Inappropriate outside somewhere, we'd highly recommend you take the opportunity to do so. If you're going to pair it with food, it'll stand up well against salty, sharp cheeses quite well, and even blue cheeses if they're not too overwhelming. You could do very well if you paired it with the right salad, especially if the greens were a little bitter or if the dressing had a bit of a kick to it, and you probably couldn't do much wrong if you drank it with almost anything that came out of a deep fryer.
For now, all Solemn Oath's beers are still only available on draft, so check beermenus.com to see where you can find 'Mr. Inappropriate' on tap this weekend.
