UPDATED: West Town Tavern Now Chicago Taco

So, the saga of West Town Tavern continues. They announced their closing earlier this week, which provoked much hand-wringing and hair pulling from Chicago foodies. However, Chef Susan Goss responded to the sympathetic tweets with vague statements that something new would be coming very soon. Something new has come—Chicago Taco opens in the former West Town Tavern space on Friday.
Very few details are available aside from what has leaked onto social media. Yesterday evening, Goss tweeted the logo above, saying that the new place was "Opening Friday at 5:00 at 1329 W Chicago Avenue!"
Chicago Taco has had a facebook page for about 11 hours. There's no website and no menu, but there is another vague description.
"Presenting Chicago Taco! A fun, neighborhood joint serving awesome tacos, craft cocktails, beer and wine. Pop in and grab a bag of tacos to go or order at the counter and find a spot at a table inside or outside! Full bar of course! OPENS FRIDAY JULY 26 AT 5:00"
Goss hasn't responded to our request for comment. Looks like we'll have to wait and see what's next. We're not sure we have ever seen a restaurant re-concept this fast.
UPDATE: Eater Chicago got an interview with Goss. She emphasized that this is a "complete 180 from West Town Tavern," that some classic dishes like fried chicken will be back in taco form and that practically nothing is changing about the decor. They also have the menu. We must admit that we're a bit dubious of the changeover, but we'll reserve judgment until we eat there.
