Atwood Cafe throws some of the most creative special dinners in town. Last time we visited, they cooked up a menu inspired by the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition. This time, Chef Derek Simcik is celebrating his 30th birthday. He happens to have, well, quite a few tattoos. He's sharing his love of ink with his guests during this "Get Ink'd" dinner.

No, you don't have to get a tat to join in. But the dinner begins at South Loop Tattoo parlor
Code of Conduct, where guests can get temporary (or real, if you like) tattoos put on. After that, hop in a limo to Atwood for a five-course dinner. Tattooing is part of the culinary fun, too - Chef Simcik has spent the weekend tattooing pork with squid in. Expect some creative, tattoo-themed fireworks at this dinner.

The tattooing starts at 3:30. Dinner begins at 6:30. Tickets are $85, and they include dinner, drink pairings, taxes and tip. All proceeds go to the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Call 312-368-1900 to reserve.

Happy Birthday, Chef!

Atwood Cafe is at 1 W Washington Street.
