Crime Blotter: Father Shot Six Times While Shielding Toddler

- A 29-year-old man was shot six times while shielding his 20-month-old daughter on Thursday in the Little Village neighborhood as part of initiation for a 14-year-old member of a rival gang. Esteban "Sniper" Sotelo, 19, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
