Cubs 3, St. Louis 0

Youth continues to be served by the Cubs. Friday night they headed to St. Louis where starter Chris Rusin blanked the Cardinals for six innings, and Junior Lake scored and drove in a run as the North Siders won the opener of their three-game series at Busch Stadium. Anthony Rizzo had two RBI for the Cubs.

Minnesota 7-3, White Sox 5-2

With Alex Rios gone, Adam Dunn clearing waivers and available for a trade and the White Sox calling up prospects at a rapid pace—don't call it a rebuild; GM Rick Hahn says it's a "reshaping"—the Sox dropped a day-night doubleheader at 35th and Shields to the Twins Friday. In the first game John Danks recorded a season-high nine strikeout but he still had velocity and control problems. Danks walked five batters yet earned a no decision thanks to some offense from his teammates. Paul Konerko homered and Alexei Ramirez had a home run among his four RBI.

Ramirez also homered in the nightcap along with new callup Blake Tekotte but it wasn't enough as Dylan Axelrod took the loss in extras. Starter Charles Leesman (Who?) struck out eight and walked five in five innings but only allowed a run.
