As fast as life moves, Chicago's vibrant hip-hop scene moves faster. Trying to document it all is a wonderfully futile exercise. Here now is a new weekly feature, "Hip-Hop Catch-Up," that humbly aims to keep you up on the Windy City boom-bap. Here goes:
- Chance The Rapper's phenomenal year continues. He recently released a new video for "Everybody's Something" that has almost 400,000 views since being dropped. Additionally, the emcee took part in a Reddit AMA, which you can read here.
- Friend of Chicagoist NoNameGypsy continues to inspire with her work. The Bronzeville emcee released two new songs, "Cherrypie Blues," and "Baby," in the past month. More recently, Gypsy did an interview with Heart Of The City Aug. 10 where she talks about upcoming new material. Get excited.
- Psalm One dropped a video and played for 8,000 people at Millennium Park.
- Underrated electronic hip-hop act Tensei & The Ones released a new video for a song from an upcoming EP.
