The Henry C. Palmisano Nature Park, aka "Mount Bridgeport," has proven to be a popular destination for nature lovers from all across the city since it opened to the public four years ago. This Saturday, Aug. 17, the Henry C. Palmisano Nature Center Advisory Council is hosting its own version of an "air and water show" to showcase one of the best places in the area to enjoy the outdoors.
Park steward Samantha Mattone will lead guided tours of the 27-acre park and its native plants. Astonomers from Adler Planetarium will be on hand with telescopes to encourage stargazing. Tom Palmisano of Henry's Sporting Goods (he's also the son of the park's namesake) and the Valentine Boys and Girls Club will show how to properly catch and release fish in the park's retention pond. Local food trucks including Babycakes, Curried, and more will surround the park with their food offerings and free kites will be given away to the first 50 children to show up. (There will be kite-flying lessons,a s well.)
The "Bridgeport Air & Water Show" runs from 5 p.m. through 10 p.m. on the 17th. Come down and see why this park is a true gem.
