Take A First Look Inside Travelle

What’s a luxury downtown hotel without a restaurant? The Langham for a teensy bit. But Travelle, serving upscale Mediterranean-inspired fare, is now open to the public. A seamless extension of the hotel’s modern aesthetic, Travelle occupies the second floor of a Mies van der Rohe landmark while wearing its spare ecru façade like the sophisticated lady she is.
We visited Monday evening for a preview party, glutting ourselves on as many amuse-bouches as the wait staff would allow. Having tasted no more from the kitchen than our fingertips could capably balance, our guess is that locals may occasionally want to enjoy its views of the river and Marina City for a swank night out but the restaurant will remain most popular with out-of-towners wanting a reasonable excuse to put on their fancy pants. The kitchen is helmed by Chef Tim Graham, who earned a Michelin star at Tru and has most recently been turning out fashionable French fare at Paris Club.
Check out the menu below, which includes an extensive caviar selection, small plates (called "diminutive introductions") like a sea urchin and crab tartine with green olives, and a huge porterhouse for two.
Travelle is located at 330 N. Wabash.
