Ryno Finally Gets His Shot At Managing In The Show

The Philadelphia Phillies have fired manager Charlie Manuel and named Cubs Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg as their interim manager. Sandberg has been serving as their third base coach this season after managing the Phillies' Triple-A ball club the previous two seasons.
Sandberg started his Hall-of-Fame career in the Phillies' organization before being traded to the Cubs and became a fan favorite, especially after the infamous "Sandberg Game" where he hit two home runs late in the game. As a Cub he won nine Gold Gloves and appeared in 10 All-Star games. He was the star player for both the '84 and '89 playoff teams and, well, you know how that turned out.
He started his managing career with the Cubs' Single-A affiliate Peoria Chiefs in 2007 before moving up to manage both the Double-A and Triple-A ball clubs. In 2010 Sandberg was passed over as a Cubs manager in favor of Mike Quade by then Cubs general manager Jim Hendry. He joined the Phillies organization the next year.
Look for Cubs fans to jump on the Phillies bandwagon when Ryno makes his inevitable run to a World Series title. Because that's just how things work for the North siders.
