Tomato season is upon us, and every tomato lover who frequents Chicago farmers markets knows that some of the very best come from Leaning Shed Farm in Berrien Springs, Mich. Okay, we haven't tasted every tomato in Chicago (and the best ones are, of course, the ones you grow yourself) but the number of varieties of heirloom cherry and grape tomatoes they grow is astonishing. If you want a taste for yourself, they've teamed up with 2 Sparrows for a tomato dinner.

This Friday, Aug. 23, 2 Sparrows will host an epic 4-course tomato feast for $45 per person. We attended a similar dinner last year, and it was worth every penny. The dishes include:

- Tomato Gazpacho with Cucumber, Crab and Basil
- Seared Duck Breast with Black Trumpet Mushrooms and Tomatoes 3 Ways
- Grilled Pork Chops with Tomato and Apricot Mole, Black Eyed Peas and Cauliflower
- Tomato Pots Au Creme

The dinner starts at 7 p.m. For tickets and more information, call 773-234-2320.

2 Sparrows is at 553 W Diversey Parkway.
