Looks like the bacon/pastry arms race hasn't cooled off yet. On the heels of Glazed and Infused's maple-bacon donut comes a new entry in the "how much fat can we cram into a pastry" competition: Sprinkles Maple-Bacon cupcake.

Sprinkles, which you may recognize because of all the fuss over their (actually pretty awesome) cupcake ATM, is releasing this cupcake on Aug. 30 and it will be available for about two weeks. Unlike other bacon pastries, however, this cupcake features pieces of bacon baked into the cake itself, and the cupcake is topped with a maple cream cheese frosting.

Even better, if you buy the maple bacon cupcake from the ATM on National Bacon Day (Aug. 31), you might win even more. They're hiding some gift certificates in the boxes. So, if you're gonna get one anyway, that's probably the best time to do it.

Sprinkles is at 50 E. Walton Street.
