When thinking about ballet, we most often consider it a female dominant art form, yet the majority of choreographers these days are still men. That’s why Amy Roby decided the program for the debut of her new company, Fôr Dance, should focus strictly on emerging female choreographers. Viewpointe(s): generating exposure for women dancemakers presents new works from five different female choreographers ranging from classic to contemporary over three performances this weekend at The Den Theater.

Roby is joined by Fôr Dance co-founder Christina Diane, co-artistic director Masha Balovlenkov, Lauren Warnecke and Kaitlin Webster Keegan, all choreographers with Chicago connections. Through their respective pieces they'll touch on the idea of home, persistence, introspection, dissociation and introversion with a soundtrack going all the way from Schubert to the Detroit Cobras.

Showtimes are tonight and tomorrow, Sept. 6 and 7, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 ($20 door). The Den Theatre is located at 1333 N. Milwaukee Ave.
