The fight for marriage equality continues with a fundraiser at Hideout 7 p.m. - 10 p.m. tonight. "Food Raiser for Freedom" is intended to generate awareness, raise money and recruit volunteers in the fight to legalize same-sex marriage in Illinois. There's a planned cakewalk featuring sweets from Bittersweet Pastry, Celestial Kitchens, Floriole Cafe and Bakery, Mindy's Hot Chocolate, Rare Bird Preserves, Rustic Tart and Allison Scott. A silent auction features items from Blackbird, Girl & the Goat, Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Metropolis Coffee, Paulina Market, Piece, Middlewest magazine, photographer Jim Newberry and limited edition Epiphone SG electric guitar signed by Hideout Block Party performers (Neko Case, Craig Finn of the Hold Steady, Mac McCaughan of Superchunk, Mavis Staples and others). Steve Albini, Bloodshot Records Rob Miller, artist and food blogger Tim Mazurek (Lottie + Doof) and Lula Café/Nightwood co-owner Amelea Tshilds will DJ. Tickets are available here.
