An Addison man found a welcome surprise in his car recently: a $1 million winning lottery ticket.

Giuseppe Anelli bought a 4th of July Millionaire Raffle ticket at an Addison Citgo gas station, put it in his glove compartment and promptly forgot about it. He noticed the ticket a couple weeks ago and scanned it at gas station to see if he won anything. When the scanner read “file a claim, Anelli took the ticket home, entered the numbers on the Illinois Lottery’s website and discovered he won $1 million. Anelli told Suburban Life Publications he was in shock while his wife screamed and jumped.

The couple plans on paying off the mortgage on their home and setting up college funds for their children with the winnings. This is the second time this year an Illinois family discovered they won millions with a missing lottery ticket. Ricardo Cerezo of Geneva discovered a winning Illinois Lottery ticket worth $4.85 million in a cookie jar in May.
