The touring production of the recent Broadway revival stops in Chicago for a few weeks, bringing with it some familiar songs (“Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” anyone?) and a not-so-familiar storyline following the rise of former Argentinean first lady Eva Peron. The show runs through Sunday, Oct. 6.
Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., 312-384-1501 or online.
Northlight’s newest production centers on a 21-year-old hippie kid who takes refuge at his grandma’s West Village apartment following a disastrous cross-country bike ride. Leave it to playwright Amy Herzog to combine truly funny dialogue with an ultimately gripping storyline. The show runs through Sunday, Oct. 20.

Raven Theatre delivers a subtle, affecting drama about an elderly woman wanting to escape her overbearing son and daughter-in-law’s cramped apartment to fulfill her nostalgia-fueled dream of returning home. The show runs through Sunday, Nov. 17.
