Chicago Police have two people in custody in connection with last week's shooting in a Back of the Yards park that injured 13, including a 3-year-old boy who was shot in the face.
The two men, both 22, were arrested in an abandoned building on the 5200 block of South Marshfield Avenue. Police have not filed charges in the attack yet, but sources told the Tribune one of the men has been identified as the shooter, the other as "one of the individuals who participated in the shooting."
Deonta Howard, the 3-year-old injured in the shooting, is expected to make a full recovery but will need plastic surgery. Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said in a news conference last week military grade firearms were used in the shooting and that it was a "miracle" no one died.
