Old Jews Telling Jokes is playing now at the Royal George.

Lots of laughs and a little music on the side this week in Chicago theater.

Smokefall

Noah Haidle’s multi-generational family saga is an intriguing piece for the Goodman. The plot centers on a pregnant housewife and her family, with a few thought-provoking scenes from her in-utero twins. Hmmm…
The show runs Saturday, Oct. 5 through Sunday, Nov. 3.

Goodman Theatre, 170 N. Dearborn, 312-443-3800 or online.

Once

The touring production of last year’s big Tony-winning show has finally landed in Chicago. This compelling story of two young musicians falling in love is beautiful, bittersweet and not to be missed. The show runs Wednesday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 27.

Oriental Theatre, 24 W. Randolph St., 312-977-1700 or online.

Old Jews Telling Jokes

Get in a night of old-school laughs with a fresh spin over at the Royal George. This revue-style show is all shrewd, self-deprecating gags — and we wouldn’t have our classic Jewish humor any other way. The show runs through Sunday, Feb. 16.

Royal George Theatre, 1641 N. Halsted, 312-988-9000 or online.
