If recent weather shifts have left you blue and your family is suffering from housebound boredom, we suggest packing everyone up and heading to the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago for their Family Day Oct. 12. Admission is free for families with children 12 and under, and the featured exhibit is Homebodies, which aims to have visitors re-imagine the all too typical family living spaces.

Homebodies features sculpture, art and photography by a myriad of artists, including Station to Station’s mastermind Doug Aitken, as well as a living room re-imagined as a working nail salon where you can actually reserve an appointment.

Activities are appropriate for all ages at this Chicago artist-led event, and we think it will be fun for all, rain or shine.

Family Day is Oct. 12 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, 220 E Chicago Ave
