- Homestead, one of our favorite openings of 2012 (and one of the few re-conceptings that actually made a restaurant better) has made an important announcement: they are staying open all year long. Last year, the rooftop restaurant known mostly for its great patio garden closed in the fall, and all indications at opening were that the same would happen this year. Luckily for fans of Chris Curren's food, they changed their mind. They'll even be keeping the outdoor patio open - once it gets cold, they'll be turning on the fireplace, giving guests blankets and pouring them hot cocktails after dinner.

- Covo Gyro Market, the Greek fast-casual spot in Wicker Park that never quite found its audience, has closed. We actually enjoyed Covo the few times we visited, but the idea of upscale, vaguely sustainable gyros never took off. Their last day was September 28, and the owners reportedly don't intend to bring anything else to the space.

- DNA Chicago reports that T's, one of Chicago's only lesbian-friendly bars that closed earlier this year, is turning into a Mexican joint. Some in the gay community were particularly excited when it came out that the owner of Crew had bought the space, hoping that it might turn back into a bar. But one of the owners, Matt Robinson, confirmed that it would be a Mexican restaurant. "It's a restaurant concept that we think will do well in that part of Andersonville/Uptown." It won't open till next year, due to the need for extensive renovations.
