Morning Box Score: St. Louis Edge Blackhawks

By Chuck Sudo in News on Oct 10, 2013 2:30PM

St. Louis 3, Blackhawks 2
Detroit has moved on to the Eastern Conference with the NHL's realignment but the Blackhawks still have a fierce rival in their division in the St. Louis Blues. The Blues moved to 3-0-0 on the young season with a slap shot from Alexander Steen with 21.1 seconds remaining in regulation.

The Hawks played from behind all game. St. Louis scored first on a wrist shot by Vladimir Tarasenko on Corey Crawford's stick side at the 15:44 mark of the first period. The Hawks tied it at one with 2:59 remaining on a power play goal by Patrick Kane. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Sharp assisted on the goal.

The Blues made the score 2-1 when David Backes redirected a shot from Alex Pietrangelo past Crawford on a St. Louis power play. Toews tied the score at two with a power play goal of his own.

Crawford stopped 30 shots on the night but St. Louis' Jaroslav Halak, although he was 1-4 on the power play, was a perfect 25-for-25 when the teams were at even strength.
