26 (!) Hours Of Screams At The Music Box Of Horrors

The 49th Chicago International Film Festival is in full swing over at AMC's River East 21, but for my money, the most awesome film fest this weekend will be at the Music Box when their 9th annual marathon of horror films is unleashed: The Music Box of Horrors.
This year's fest not only runs two hours longer than the usual 24, it's also an exceptionally strong line-up. Old crowd favorites like Child's Play, Island Of Lost Souls and the third Nightmare On Elm Street (DREAM WARRIORS!) play alongside films I'm looking forward to seeing for the first time—especially The Manitou and Mario Bava's Twitch of the Death Nerve (and I REALLY don't want to admit to having never seen C.H.U.D., so let's just skip it). But the crown jewel of this year's schedule would have to be a 35mm screening of Andrzej Zulawski's Possession—a truly amazing mindfuck of a movie that's one of my all time favorites. Possession all by itself would be worth the price of admission.
And speaking of that—tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door. A ticket allows you to come and go as you like and fine food trucks will be camped outside. Movies start at noon on Saturday October 19 and end at 2 p.m. the next day. Good luck!
