Two jars containing fetuses were found outside a Little Village apartment building Wednesday.

An employee of a business near the building on the 2500 block of South Harding discovered the jars wrapped in a plastic bag around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and called police, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada.

The question now: are the fetuses human? Officials with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office determined what was in the jar were indeed fetuses and were not scientific samples. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday to determine if the fetuses are indeed human. Police launched a noncriminal investigation into the matter.
