Music fans across the globe are still reeling from the news of Lou Reed's death Sunday we though we'd pay tribute to him in a different way.

The Velvet Underground song "The Gift" tells the tale of Waldo Jeffers, a college student who comes up with the idea to ship himself in a box via the postal service to his girlfriend as a surprise when he hasn't heard from her all summer. "The Gift" is popular with student filmmakers as a class project because it's a simple song in chord structure and story. Here are two versions of the song brought to life in film.
