Robin Robinson (left) has been the one constant of WFLD's 9 p.m. newscast since it debuted in 1987. Anna Davlantes will leave Fox 32 next month after four years at the station, most of that time anchoring "Good Day Chicago."

Changes are afoot at Fox 32 News. Robert Feder (who else) reports two anchors at WFLD-TV will be leaving their chairs very soon.

One of the departures is already confirmed. Anna Davlantes, the Medill School of Journalism and Lane Tech grad, is leaving the station after four years. Davlantes, who joined WFLD from NBC 5 in 2009, has been anchoring “Good Day Chicago,” the station’s morning newscast, since 2010. She said in a statement, "I'm grateful to management for the opportunities I've had at the station and will have an announcement about my new position very soon."

Davlantes’ opportunities were few. She arrived with great fanfare and promises she would be a contributing anchor to the 9 p.m. newscast and groomed to anchor a 5 p.m. newscast at the station that never happened.

We wonder if Davlantes is thinking what could have been today because Feder reported earlier that Robin Robinson, co-anchor of WFLD’s 9 p.m. newscast since it debuted in August 1987, is being forced to step down from her chair. Feder cites sources who said the move will likely happen after the November sweeps. Robinson will contribute special reports under the banner “Chicago at the Tipping Point.”

The moves are the latest in a flurry of activity at WFLD. The station is hiring a host of out of town talent for “Good Day Chicago” possibly including former WMAQ sports anchor Jon Kelley. ABC 7 anchor and reporter Sylvia Perez is also rumored to join the station.
