Quite literally, this isn't something you see everyday: An alligator was found walking around under an escalator at O'Hare International Airport Friday. WGN reports that Department of Aviation caught the reptile with a dustpan and broom before holding the animal long enough for Animal Control to come and get it. No passengers were injured.

Like Stonehenge before it, no one knows where the alligator came from, but Chicago Police Spokesman Jose Estrada told the Associated Press that the animal "was in pretty bad shape" but that they were "trying to get [the alligator] healthy and find a place for it." Aww, poor buddy. (The alligator, not Estrada.)

The AP also reported the animal
is in the care of the Chicago Herpetological Society, and that the animal would "likely head to an out-of-state alligator farm" once it got better. Get well soon, alli-pal!
