- Glunz Bavarian Haus has closed after a decade in business, Eater reported last week. The restaurant's website currently reads "Thank you for 10 1/2 wonderful years! We enjoyed serving you! So many great memories!" Unfortunately, that means one less German establishment for Lincoln Square. With the fancy German food boom that was suppose to happen in 2013 (we're still waiting, but you never know), maybe something similar will take over the space.
- DNA Chicago sat down with Brendan Sodikoff, owner of Gilt Bar, Doughnut Vault, Au Cheval and Dillman's, for a chat about his newest project: Maxim's. With much fanfare, Sodikoff bought the Maxim's space from the city last year for $1.3 million dollars. Now we have a sense of what he plans to do with it. The first thing? It's not going to be like the Pump Room, which Sodikoff thinks the new owners have ruined. "We don’t want to be a late-night bar. We don’t want to be a destination bar. The idea is to bring back to life this historic place with the same spirit that it was built with."
- Everyone who's been dying to go to Found, the fabulous Evanston spot from Amy Morton and Chef Nicole Pederson, listen up. The restaurant doesn't usually take reservations, leading to hours-long waits that have become infamous with Evanston residents. Luckily for you, they announced last week that they would be opening for lunch and taking reservations. Starting tomorrow, from Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., you can dine at Found without a wait.
