Texas Tourist Says He Was Shot Near Magnificent Mile

It's the weekend, so of course something utterly bizarre would happen: a Texas tourist was allegedly shot after driving his vehicle on Superior St. Saturday night. What makes this shooting unusual was that, according to the Huffington Post, the 48-year-old man didn't realize he'd been shot until after he returned to his hotel.

But DNAinfo has more, well, info that casts the man's story into question. According to the Tribune, Chicago police said the tourist "heard his driver's side rear window shatter" as he was driving near Superior Street and Michigan Avenue.

Except that:

[I]nvestigators on Sunday said they couldn't find evidence to back up the man's statements, according to police sources. Cops found neither shell casings nor shattered glass on Superior Street, and there were no reports of shots fired in the popular entertainment area.

Police said no witnesses could back up the man's story.

According to police, the man appeared to be highly intoxicated when he was treated.

The Associated Press says no one was in custody, according to Chicago police spokesman Jose Estrado.

The tourist was one of eleven people shot this weekend, including two at a JJ Fish & Chicken in South Chicago.
