We can come out of hiding now after the latest spate of dangerous weather and pick up the pieces under some sunny skies and cool temperatures across the Chicagoland area. Skilling Central said Sunday's storms were the most powerful to hit the Midwest since the one that sank the S.S. Edmund Fitzgerald 38 years ago.

Today's forecast calls for plenty of sunshine, a dropoff in the winds and highs in the mid-40s—a 25 degree dropoff of Sunday's high of 69. The cooldown continues overnight with lows ranging from the upper 20s to the low 30s. At least you won't be blown away.
