It should be no surprise to any fellow Whovians that this weekend marks the 50th anniversary of Dr. Who and an anniversary special is expected to bring back our favorite doctors and their faithful companions. The 75-minute affair will feature Matt Smith, David Tennant, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper, Paul McGann and John Hurt. We’re looking forward to seeing old favorites return and watch what happens when our favorite doctors share space.

If you’d like to put on a bow tie or lace up some Chucks and come see the special, you’ll be happy to find that BBC America has teamed up with AMC, Regal and Cinemark to screen the special at many local theaters, and you can even catch the adventures in 3-D. If just for the camaraderie of mutual nerdiness, we think the screening will be a great event. The best screenings we've been to have always been for cult favorites and Whovians are some of the most dedicated fans we know.

Those attending the screening can look forward to a few bonuses—there will be special introductions and a 10-minute behind-the-scenes featurette called “The Day of the Doctor: Behind the Lens” in which many cast favorites discuss their experiences with the anniversary. No one needs to tell us not to blink—we’re far too excited to miss any of the wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey goodness.

The live screening on Nov. 23 to coincide with the original broadcast on BBC and BBC America is sold out, but tickets to the worldwide Nov. 25 screening are still available at many area theaters. If your sonic screwdriver is malfunctioning, then go ahead and click this link to buy tickets for the event. You can also catch the trailer here. Allons-y!

Editors note: If you do not have access to BBC America and still want to enjoy the special in real time (so to avoid "Spoilers, sweetie"), Haymarket Brewery will be broadcasting the special for fans live on all of their screens. More details can be found here.
