Chicago’s soul-searching reissue label, the Numero Group, will celebrate their 50th mainline release with a listening party for Purple Snow: Forecasting the Minneapolis Sound. According to a news release, the party kicks off at Trencherman (2039 W. North Avenue) at 7:30 p.m, on Tues., Dec. 3rd.

"Purple Snow" chronicles the Twin Cities music community that kindled sexy soul and future-funk out of the 10,000 lakes tundra in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. The box set features both well-known and nearly forgotten figures of the scene, including Haze, Alexander O’Neal , a basement demo by AndrĂ© Cymone, and 94 East, the funk group who debuted a young Prince Rogers Nelson.

Numero Group is beloved by vinyl-heads for their lavish packaging, and "Purple Snow" will include a hardbound book and replica studio jackets for each of the box set's four LPs or two CDs. The image-rich hardcover book explores the history and unsung figures of the Minneapolis scene in exhaustive detail.

The listening party is free to the public, and early arrival is encouraged. Snag your copy of Purple Snow, listen to extra tracks and outtakes, enjoy Trencherman cocktails, and party like its 1975.
