Bears Defensive Tackle Henry Melton Arrested For Alleged Assault At Most Ironic Place Possible

Bears Defensive Tackle Henry Melton was arrested for public intoxication and an alleged assault at a Texas sports bar called, oddly enough, Chill. The Gods of Irony are creatures of simple pleasures it would seem.

According to CBS Chicago, Melton, who's out with a torn ACL and will be a free agent at the end of this season, "'became combative' with a staff member when he was asked to leave" the bar, presumably because he wasn't being chill. Melton then allegedly hit a manager, at which point police were called.

ESPN Chicago, who broke the story, spoke to Melton's agent, Jordan Woy who "acknowledged [that Melton got] into an argument with a bartender," but said he didn't do anything wrong.

"It's still preliminary, and we're looking into everything," Woy told ESPN.com. "But Henry said he didn't do anything. He said he didn't throw a punch at anybody and that he got jumped by a couple of bouncers on the way out."

The Bears, for their part, released a statement which said, "We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the arrest."

Melton was released on bond Sunday morning. Melton was drafted by the Bears in 2009.
