As we settle into another winter without postseason professional football in Chicago we'll be flirting with some of the coldest daytime temperatures here in nearly three years. This is fitting.

How cold, you aren't asking? Accuweather, which tends to be more pragmatic in its forecast than Skilling Central, is predicting a high of 14 degrees. Skilling Central has the high penciled in for 10 degrees. Winds from the southwest will blow at speeds between 10-15 mph and there is a small craft warning in effect until 9 a.m. but if you have a rowboat on Lake Michigan at this time of year you have to have a hell of an explanation. The overnight lows will dip into the single digits and the New Years Eve will be much of the same along with the addition of snow, so you can chill your bubbly on the back porch like you do that case of Old Style during Bears losses.
