Restaurant News: Fountainhead Team To Open Cider Bar; Chicago Distilling Company Opening

- Logan Square continues to be one of the hottest beds of food and drink activity in the city with the Friday opening of Chicago Distilling Company. Owners Jay and Vic DiPrizio said they'll be starting off with an 80 proof vodka and a white whiskey but will eventually have other offerings including a gin. Distillery tours begin Saturday. - The ownership team behind The Fountainhead and Bar on Buena shook up Chicago's beer scene late Thursday with the announcement they were opening Chicago's first cider barin the former Copper House space in North Center. The Northman will offer over 100 cider options on draft and cask and in bottles. Former Sheffield's general manager Patrick Eberle will supervise the turnover and Fountainhead chef Cleetus Friedman will oversee the menu. Expect a spring opening at 4337 N. Lincoln Ave. [Inbox]
- Gino's East River North is relocating to the former LaSalle Power Company/Michael Jordan's Restaurant space on North LaSalle. Yup, Gino's East will occupy all three floors, capable of holding 600 people. There will be two bars, a performance space and private dining area and a nod to local craft beer with selections from Revolution, Temperance Brewing Company and The Local Option beer selections, among others.
