Portage Park Shows The Classy Way To Do Dibs

Via Chicago Sun-Times' Digital Editor Brandon Wall comes a picture reportedly taken in the city's Northwest side Portage Park neighborhood. Feast your eyes upon this:

Perhaps the practice wouldn't inspire so much ambivalence if its practitioners were as dedicated as this? Eh, probably not. The dibs display is the work of comedian Brendan Gardiner.
Gardiner wrote on the Chicagoist Facebook page about his reasons for the dibs dig.
"I can just tell you that it was something I put up for 24 hours to poke fun at my DIBsy neighbors," Gardiner wrote. "We never do dibs on the spot I clean. Lots of cars come and go all day (we're close to a main street) and anyone is free to use the spot. We even get it ourselves occasionally. Glad you got a kick out of it."
