After some reflection over the weekend, let's not call the weather the rest of the week anything resembling a "polar vortex," okay. Let's can "Chiberia," while we're at it. It's just going to be cold but we've already made it through a polar vortex so what is in store for us is manageable. Here's hoping you seized the day Sunday as the fellow in the photo above did because the temperatures are now on a decline.
We've already reached our high temp of the day with the sunrise. The winds will shift from the northwest to the north as the day moves forward and by the time you're ready to knock off work (if you're working this holiday) the temps will be in the teens en route to single digit overnight lows. expect some snow as well in parts—southeast Cook County could see up to an inch of snow. As for Tuesday both Skilling Central and Accuweather are predicting highs above 10 degrees, so "polar vortex" may not be accurate. It will be damn cold but we know how to handle this.
