The cast of Porchlight Music Theatre's Ain't Misbehavin'.

A swingin’ revue, a weighty novel-turned-stage-production and a lighthearted musical take to the Chicago stage this week.

Ain’t Misbehavin’

This Tony-winning revue celebrates the jazz-age Harlem Renaissance with the songs of influential jazz pianist Fats Waller. We’ll admit it: jukebox musicals are a guilty pleasure. The show runs Saturday, Feb. 1 through Sunday, March 9.

Porchlight Music Theatre at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont, 773-327-5252 or online.

Crime and Punishment

Mary-Arrchie is the latest theater company to stage Dostoyevsky’s weighty novel about a young intellectual who struggles with morality and the consequences of his crimes. The show runs Tuesday, Feb. 4 through Sunday, March 16.

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. at Angel Island, 735 W. Sheridan, 773-871-0442 or online.

Edges: The Musical

Check out the early work of current Broadway singer-songwriter duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul about life in your 20s—and the growth, self-discovery and Facebook addiction that comes along with it. The show runs through Sunday, March 2.

Circle Theatre at the Chicago Actors Studio, 2040 N. Elston, 773-904-8756 or online.
