"GIrl leave your boots by the bed, we ain't leaving this room 'til someone needs medical help or the magnolias bloom." With apologies to Jason Isbell, let's put January behind us, shall we? We end the month as we began it, with a winter storm watch in effect late tonight until Saturday afternoon that could leave us with up to another 10 inches of fresh snow before we head into another deep freeze next week. Anyone want to place bets on whether groundhogs across the country even want to leave their boxes?

Today's forecast kicks things off with gray skies, light winds and temperatures in the low 20s before the snow is expected to arrive later in the day. Things are expected to get nasty this evening and overnight with anywhere between 2 to 4 inches of snow falling by Saturday morning. That's the opening act as the snow is expected to intensify before tapering off Saturday afternoon. If you're flying out of O'Hare and Midway check your airline carriers for delays or cancellations.
