Rejoice, comrades in frostbite! A respite is at hand. We've reached the end of another round of arctic air today as the current subzero temps you're enduring in your morning commute will climb to 15 degrees, coupled with partly sunny skies and light winds. The mercury will dip overnight to single digits but will only cross into negative digits if you live in the far suburbs.
The thaw begins Wednesday with a 25 degree day and not a moment too soon. Here at Chicagoist's Bridgeport headquarters I have enough Tom and Jerry batter for one more cocktail and am out of red wine; my winter survival kit is reaching critically low levels. But take a look at that extended forecast once again. Sure, those 40 degree days and rain will result in flooding if the forecast holds but it isn't this weather. Chicago is a city of extremes and the weather is no exception. Dive in!
