The official temperature as of the time of this post is a balmy 43 degrees and Nature is doing a fine job of melting away these mounds of snow. With that comes some ugliness—we get to see how pockmarked the streets are with potholes for example.

All that melting snow needs to go somewhere and that could be your basement. There is a flood watch in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday. Winds from the south will begin to strengthen this evening as a storm rolls into the area bringing with it a chance for rain and possibly freezing rain. Thursday could see more rain as the melting begins in earnest. Temperatures could reach the 50s before another cold front arrives to remind us that winter ain't over yet. The worst part of this oncoming cold front will be the winds. The Tribune reports they could reach up to 50 mph.

Even when we don't have snow we'll be forced to stay in.
