Young would-be novelists, an Iraq war vet and a well-known NPR personality share their stories on stage this week.

Seminar
In Theresa Rebeck’s sharp comedy, four young (and competitive) writers come together for a weeks-long writing seminar led by a once-celebrated author with a narcissistic streak. The show runs through Sunday, April 13.

Haven Theatre at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-975-8150 or online.

Murdered by the Mind
NPR personality Joe Frank is staging his one-man show, a conglomeration of spoken word, storytelling and music, for one night only at the Steppenwolf. The show is on Saturday, March 1.

Steppenwolf Theater, 1650 N. Halsted, 312-335-1650 or online.

Water by the Spoonful
In Quiara Alegria Hudes’s Pultizer-winning drama, an army vet returns to the U.S. after a harrowing stint in the Iraq War. But what comes next are the even more harrowing challenges of assimilating back into post-war civilian life. The show runs Thursday, March 6 through Sunday, April 6.

Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ellis Ave., 773-753-4472 or online.
